Oportunidades para mejorar

Todas estas frases han sido utilizados por alguno de nuestros alumnos en los cursos de inmersión en inglés para profesionales que organizamos en nuestro centro en España. Atraves de superar estos fallos, lo que llamamos oportunidades, el alumno puede mejorar la calidad de su inglés hablado.

1. The near hospital was 40 or 50 kilometres.

2. The members of the Works Council have the representation of all the workers.

3. This contract was interesting for the company.

Correcciones

1. The nearest hospital was 40 or 50 kilometres away.

Explicación: Superlative because several hospitals could be in question. Without the adverb at the end an illogical identity of hospital with 40 or 50 kilometres is suggested.

2. The members of the Works Council represent all the workers.

Explicación: Simplify.

3. This contract was in the company’s interest.

Explicación:  Usually when we say something is interesting, the meaing is mentally stimulating, intellectually attractive.  To speak of an interesting proposal may imply monetary interest, but even then the idea is I like it.
